Into My Own
Written by: Josiah Letchworth
When mornin’ arrives and you find I’ve gone,
I know you won’t follow my tracks.
It’s a long way to go on that ribbon of road,
And I don’t know if I should ever turn back.
I don’t know if I’ll ever turn back.
I left today to find a way into my own.
And when I arrive, I’m sure that I’ll find
There’s no other place I have known
And no other way to go.
Out on the empty highway
There ain’t no use in holdin’ out your thumb,
So I point my finger into the sky
And ask where is my help comin’ from.
Tell me, where is my help comin’ from.
I left today to find a way into my own.
And when I arrive, I’m sure that I’ll find
There’s no other place I have known
And no other way to go.
I’m lookin’ to find the end of the earth
Where I will confirm all my doubts
‘Cause here from the ground
It don’t look too round,
And I suppose I just had to find out for myself.
I just had to find out.
I thought it might be at the end of the sea
With waves floatin’ over the wall,
But I arrived on the golden shore
Without havin’ seen even one waterfall.
I suppose it’s not flat after all.
